The TIFF–CBC Films Screenwriter Award recognizes and supports under-represented Canadian storytellers. The Award will provide $15,000 CAD to an experienced Canadian writer of an outstanding feature-film screenplay, along with support from a script consultant, so they may further develop their project.
The Award is open to screenwriters who are Indigenous, who belong to visible minorities, who identify as having a disability, or who are women. Our commitment is to fund the development of high-quality productions that reflect, represent, and reframe diverse perspectives through character-driven stories that are at the centre of the Canadian experience. The winners of the 2019 Award were Tracey Deer and Meredith Vuchnich for their feature screenplay Beans.
Applications open until December 5!
