Position: Summer Facilities Management Assistant
Compensation: $16/hr, 40hrs/week, 12 weeks

About: FAVA is currently looking for a Facilities Management Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2019. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to support the creation, production, exhibition and distribution of film, video and media art in Northern Alberta.
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from emerging, mid-career, to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video and media art. FAVA offers a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a resource for production equipment facilities; hosts events and screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern Alberta.
Job Description: The Facilities Management Assistant assists in the day-to-day operations of the FAVA-Edmonton Screen Industries Centre Production Facility (ESIC) managing venues, which include 3 sound stages, 2 recording studios, post-production mastering suite, and dark room. Assist in the booking and maintenance of venues and equipment, assist with client outreach and acquisition, and help build relationships between the arts community and the centre. These tasks include fielding phone calls and e-mails with rental and technical inquiries regarding the facilities, prepping and checking equipment before facility bookings, and invoicing of facility rentals. As the FAVA Facilities Assistant, the Student Employee will be required to work alongside the Facilities Manager, and to manage and operate FAVA’s various production facilities and sound stages and to liaise with the Edmonton public to book and promote. Duties and project-based tasks will be assigned based on the skill-set of the applicant. The Facilities Management Team is a very small team of two that works closely with FAVA Production and Programming, in order to fulfill the production facility needs of our members and the Edmonton Public.
The ideal candidate will have:
– A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
– Strong background or interest in, theater management, marketing, or event planning
– Interested in various aspects of facility management including venue booking, equipment maintenance, budgeting, licensing and promotion
– Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
– Strong organizational skills and be highly self-motivated
– Strong ability to multi-task and work both independently and in a team environment
– A desire to facilitate the creation of media art in Alberta.
– Post Secondary Student in film / arts programs or related courses.
