Hans Olson is an Alberta filmmaker, originally from the hamlet of Armena. His first feature film, Figurine, will screen at the 2015 Edmonton International Film Festival. In 2012, he directed The Auctioneer, a one-hour observational documentary produced by the National Film Board (Hot Docs, Documentary Channel, iChannel). After taking FAVA’s 16mm filmmaking class in 2005/06, he studied screenwriting at Langara College and attended the Directors’ Lab at the Canadian Film Centre. His short films include Champagne, (TIFF, Vladivostok, CBC Reflections), Baby Boots, Bronwen’s Ark and the documentary, Where Credit Is Due. Hans fell in love with world cinema when his family started a community film festival in their basement (2000-2010).
