Born in Thunder Bay and residing in Edmonton, Canada, Geraldine Carr (Voila! / Maud Mary & the Titanic / Dance of the Kaleidoscope) has a passion for story, cinema and the creative process. A trained actor, and former casting director in Alberta’s film and television industries, Geraldine was recently invited to screen at the 18th Flying Broom International Women’s Festival in Ankara, Turkey in May 2015. Geraldine is the recipient of the 2015 Helen Folkmann Film Award for her new work-in-progress Synapses; the Lisa Trofimova Award for Voila! and, the Bay Street Film Festival’s 2012 People’s Choice Award for Maud Mary & the Titanic.
Nominations include: Best Short at the 2015 Female Eye Film Festival (Toronto); 2014 Edmonton Film Prize for Voila!; Best Animation at the 2013 Female Eye Film Festival (Toronto); Best Short Subject at the 2012 Yorkton Film Festival. Geraldine was a director participant in the 2010 Women in the Director’s Chair Workshop and she graduated from the Film Production Program at Confederation College, Canada. Geraldine remains committed to her craft and is in possession of a keenly creative mind and spirit.
