CALL FOR INSTRUCTOR – MAIN COURSE
The Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta (FAVA) is accepting applications for Class Instructor for the upcoming Main Course class.
Main Course is one of FAVA’s long-standing classes. This 12-class course is a follow up to our Video Kitchen Class, providing intermediate training in the basics of digital video and film production. Classes are comprised of a mixture of lecture-based learning and hands on practical exercises, with a curriculum that is tailored to the interests and skill level of class participants. Outside of class time, each participant produces their own short four to six minute video using FAVA equipment.
Class Dates: Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at The Orange Hub (10045 156 Street NW)
February 22nd – May 16th, 2020, with no class April 11th and 25th
Instructor must be available to teach or facilitate all of the classes, shoots and editing sessions, provide all handouts and facilitate the completion of all projects. Remuneration is $40 per teaching hour (48 teaching hours) and $40 per prep hour (48 prep hours), for a total of $3,840.
This course includes a budget for four guest instructors, to be hired at the Instructor’s discretion.
Qualifications:
- knowledge and experience in digital video production, celluloid-based film production, and post-production, including camera operating, cinematography, editing using premiere pro, and screenwriting
- post-secondary education in visual arts or film and video production, or equivalent experience
- strong organizational skills; ability to prepare course outline, plan activities to meet learning objectives and stay on schedule
- teaching experience
Successful applicants will be able to teach both the creative and technical sides of digital filmmaking.
