Katie Cutting is a self-taught filmmaker, photographer, and educator. She’s a chronically ill disabled trans woman with a knack for saying yes to amazing projects. She’s done documentary and promotional work with organizations such as Nextfest, RaricaNOW, Edmonton Poetry Festival, Pride Centre of Edmonton, Edmonton Fringe, Queer & Trans Health Collective, The Debutantes, and Sorry, Not Sorry Productions.
Katie has lived in Edmonton since 2007, and says she went to school for everything EXCEPT filmmaking, which seems to have given her a unique outlook on how films can and should be made. She lives in Delton with her fiancee and feline fur baby, and is currently in pre-production on a film about her time growing up as within an evangelical church community. Katie is also in post-production on her first feature scripted film, Spirit Of The Season, which was shown as a pre-release screening in Dec 2022.
Note: Intro to Digital Filmmaking provides great foundational information for Video Lab, but if you have equivalent experience, you can take Video Lab without taking Intro to Digital Filmmaking.
