Clearwater Documentary Costume Designer – 3-part Documentary, Equus
March 1 – Spetember 15, 2017 (intermittant)
As a part of the three-part documentary series Equus, to be produced in Edmonton for delivery to CBC/PBS/ZDF/Arte?DR in September 2018, the production team will film dramatic recreation sequences evoking the world’s earliest horse cultures. The Costume Designer will work with Director Niobe Thompson to research and design costumes, costume accessories and personal props for a group of 10-20 characters. The site of costume and prop manufacture, and the location of creations filming, is likely to be in Kazakhstan (subject to final financing negotiations for this component of the production)
Duties and responsibilities
As a part of a small documentary production team based in Edmonton, the Costume Designer will be required to develop an archeologically informed and visually striking package of clothing, clothing accessories, make-up, tattoo art, and personal props for a group of 10-20 actors. The Costume Designer will have the support of an Assistant Costume Designer in Canada, and will be responsible for guiding the work of a larger team of costume and prop makers in Kazakhstan (to be confirmed). The Costume Designer will be expected to define a detailed plan of work in collaboration with the Director.
