Red Deer College Teen Summer Camps
Red Deer College is offering summer camps for teens wanting to study film making, game design or animation. These unique, hands-on workshops teach young film makers how to produce, direct, shoot, write, act and edit their own short movies. In our Teen Film Camp Level 2 – students take the skills they learned in week 1 of camp and apply them to a professionally built film set on a sound stage. Students use professional equipment to tell their stories.
Our Game Design camps give students the opportunity to develop a playable video game. Writing and designing games using great software as well as story, character development, production, strategy, level designs, animation and mobile gaming will be included in week 1. In Game Design camp week 2, students can “level up” and take everything they learned in their first week and expand on skills in story and character development, scripts, graphics and animations using the Unity toolset.
NEW this year is a one week Animation camp for teens. Using Maya, the industry standard for high-end 3D computer animation, effects and modeling, students will progress through basic motion and rendering exercises and finish with a collection of short animations including sound of their own design.
Professional instructors from the Alberta Film industry as well as Game Designers, programmers, artists and Animation experts and will guide and mentor students through the process of telling their stories.
These camps are an important stepping stone to our future film makers and game designers and animators.
