Since starting his career in 2011, Dylan Rhys Howard has made a number of short films about people and places in and around his hometown of Edmonton. small talk (2012), a short documentary about Edmontonian musician Liam Trimble, premiered at Calgary’s Sled Island independent film and music festival in 2012. His next two films, Cities And Plains (2013) and This Wind (2014) were recognized by The Film And Video Arts Society – Alberta as the Outstanding Short Narrative Film or Video of their respective years. His films have been described as “quiet and upfront, honest, real, rich, fertile, built on characters with depth and complexity.” He continues to grow and remains focused on telling character-driven stories that showcase the talents of his actors and explore the relationships between people and place.
