Originally from Saskatchewan, Melissa received her B.F.A. in acting from the University of Alberta and is an Edmonton-based theatre, and interdisciplinary artist. Striving towards supporting, developing and celebrating independent performance creations, Melissa has been a part of Lattitdue 53's Visualeyez Festival, The Expanse Movement Festival, The Canoe Festival, iNDiE5 as writer, producer and performer, and the Edmonton International Fringe Festival and continues to seek innovative ways to grow her work. Trevor Anderson [programming at fava dot ca]
Trevor Anderson is a self-taught, independent filmmaker. His work has screened at many international film festivals, including Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, SXSW, Outfest and AFI Fest. At Hot Docs, Trevor won the inaugural Lindalee Tracey Award, presented to “an emerging Canadian filmmaker working with passion, humour, a strong sense of social justice and a personal point of view.” Trevor is also a founding member of THE WET SECRETS whose song “Secret March” was named by Grant Lawrence of CBC Radio 3 as one of the “Best Songs of the Decade”.

FAVA's staff are hired through open calls for applications, and the positions are based on the needs and demands of the organization. Staff are hired by the Executive Director, in consultation with the board. FAVA receives the kind support of the Summer Temporary Employment Program to facilitate summer support in the offices.
